Celtel finally takes over Westel in Ghana

Celtel has finally taken over Ghanaian telecom network, Westel, following the conclusion of agreements with the Government of Ghana which sold the company to the pan African mobile operator several weeks ago.
The signing of the agreement with the communications ministry which took place last Friday gives the new owners the right to move into operations. Read more

Intercontinental Bank Nigeria Grows By 88% in Half Year

In the audited results of its half year ended August 31, 2007, Intercontinental Bank has declared a growth of 88% which amounted to N14.7 billion Profit Before Tax (PBT) as against N7.83 billion of year 2006.
A Profit After Tax (PAT) of 73% increase, which is N11.3 billion was also recorded compared to the PAT of N6.6 billion in 2006. The bank’s gross revenue earnings rose by 83% which is N60.9 billion over the N33.4 billion of 2006. Read more

First Inland Bank prepares for public offer

In preparation for the forth coming public offer, First inland Bank Plc has received a nod from its shareholders to increase the bank’s authorized share capital from N10billion to N12.5billion.

One billion ordinary shares at N2.90k per share were listed on the 17th December 2007. At the close of the day the shares appreciated by 14K to close at N3.02K.
The Managing Director, Mr. Emmanuel Ugboh said the company recorded impressive financial performance and broke even with the first six months of its operations.
