ABC Transport Plc has introduced a new coach operation known as Smart Coach, in order to meet the increasing demands for a medium size bus by its customers. The Smart Coach is a Navigo-model 27-seater luxury coach designed to offer passengers an alternative between a coach and a mini bus. Fatality rate of passengers in mini buses operating long hauls is usually very high, so as a matter of safety policy, the management of ABC Transport Plc has never favoured the use of mini buses for long distance travels.

The ABC Smart Coach combines the advantages of coach and mini bus; coach features and the sleekness of a small bus, which imbues it with easy maneuverability on difficult roads. Thus, ABC Smart Coach will meet the needs of customers who do not want to travel with a luxury bus because of the road condition in some parts of the country, which turns a simple trip to a tiring experience, and also the needs of customers who want to enjoy coach comforts but are rather too skeptical about travelling in a small bus because of its safety implications.

According to Mr. Jude Nneji, Deputy Managing Director, ABC Transport Plc, the Smart Coach will add value to “customers of ABC Transport Plc, particularly those who have kept faith with the company over the years. Its distinctive styling, aesthetic design and enhanced ergonomics will provide the same quality of ride and passenger comfort that is the hallmark of coach.” The Smart Coach will be operating in Nigeria for the first time and will be deployed on the Lagos-Port Harcourt and Abuja-Port Harcourt routes for now. Ten (10) units of the Smart Coach have been procured by ABC Transport Plc.

ABC Transport Plc had earlier sent four key maintenance staff for automotive training in Turkey, in readiness for the Smart Coach operation in Nigeria. The training was organised by Otokar Otomotive, a major automotive manufacturer in Europe, and was aimed at equipping ABC Transport engineers with firsthand knowledge and special competence in the maintenance and repairs of the Smart Coach.

The ABC Smart Coach is medium size, with roomy interior and lush upholstery. It is very ideal for intercity travels and provides an extremely high level of comfort for passengers. In fact, it has been meticulously designed to give every passenger that all-important feel-good factor. It has on-board entertainment facilities, genuine leather passenger seats with adjustable foot rests, fold-down armrests, and two-point seat belts. The air-conditioning system and air channels from the heat exchanges guarantee a comfortable interior climate. It also has a spacious luggage compartment which can be loaded and unloaded easily, and overhead luggage racks.

Arik Air increases frequency to Asaba, Gombe

Arik Air, Nigeria and West Africa’s largest airline has increased frequency to two of its domestic destinations in Nigeria- Asaba (Delta State) and Gombe (Gombe state).

Effective May 1, 2012, flights from Lagos and Abuja to Asaba now operate daily instead of the 5x weekly flights which has been in place since the airline inaugurated services to Asaba on September 2, 2011. Also, flights to Gombe Airport from Lagos and Abuja have increased from four to five weekly.

The new Tuesday and Saturday flights into Asaba Airport complement the existing five weekly flights while flights into Gombe Airport now operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Introducing more frequencies to Asaba and Gombe now means greater flexibility and more choice for passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja to any of the two destinations.

Chris Ndulue, Arik Air Managing Director/Executive Vice President comments:

“With these additional daily flights, our guests now have more choice on the Lagos-Asaba/Abuja-Asaba and Lagos-Gombe/Abuja-Gombe routes – an increased service that they have been asking for. We have identified and delivered on this demand and are continuously reviewing our domestic route network to offer increased and seamless connections.”

Arik Air inaugurated scheduled flights to Gombe Airport on April 19, 2009 and to Asaba Airport on September 2, 2011.

UNIBEN Final Year Student Emerge Miss La Casera 2012

A final year Mechanical Engineering Student of the University of Benin, Antoinette Igebu has emerged the winner of the coveted Miss La Casera crown for the year 2012.She emerged winner at the grand finale of the 2012 MGN held at the Best Western Homeville, GRA, Benin, Edo State.

Antoinette Igebu, age 21, 5.10ft height with statistics 34/27/38 who represented Gombe State in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant was crowned as the new face of the La Casera brand out of the 32 finalists.

Taking over the crown from the Miss La Casera 2011, Miss Nwando Ebeledike after her one year reign, Antoinette Igebu becomes the Sixth Miss LaCasera and her reign is expected to last for a period of one year during which she would serve as the brand ambassador for La Casera.

Presenting the new Miss La Casera with her One Million Naira Prize, the Chief Operating Officer, The La Casera Company Limited, Mr Prahlad Gangadharan announced an additional special prize of a brand new car as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of La Casera in Nigeria.

“I am very proud to announce to you all that as part of the year long celebration of La Casera 10th Anniversary, Miss La Casera 2012 would also be going home with a brand new Picanto Car apart from the One Million Naira prize money” he declared.

As the race heats up for the highly coveted beauty contest, Miss La Casera 2012 in the ancient city of Benin, foremost producer of apple flavor carbonated soft drink, The La Casera Company Limited has led a bevy of beauty contestants on a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa in Benin City.

The courtesy visit to the royal father of the Benin Kingdom came hard on the heels of the coronation of the 2012 Miss La Casera which is billed to hold on May 5, 2012 at the prestigious Best Western Homeville Hotel in Benin City.

He said that the delegation had earlier made a stop-over at the Edo Orphanage to make financial and material donation to the orphanage. “We had been to the Edo Orphanage to give some financial and material support and this is just like a preview of the bigger picture of our corporate philanthropy initiative following the coronation of Miss La Casera.”

Airtel Honours 2face at Album Launch
