- Achieving Incident Free Operation (IFO) by providing visible leadership
- Setting Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) expectations to Operations team
- Ensures all Health Environment and Safety (HES) events are investigated for root cause and corrective actions implemented
- Actively supporting the contractor safety management program
- Provides daily management and supervision of the rig site operations as Drilling Superintendent.
- Ensures operations are conducted in accordance with sound engineering practices and compliance with all environmental and safety laws and regulations in accordance with contract terms and conditions
- Directs activities and reviews in detail all planned work proposed by Deepwater operations Team; drilling operational engineers, completion engineers subsea engineers and project Teams.
- Assist operations team in developing detail drilling and completion programs for all activities.
- Ensure procedures are risk assessed. Ensures new procedures or program changes are risk assesse prior to implementation.
- Achieve lowest possible total cost while achieving objectives.
- Participates in long range business planning, including rig scheduling, equipment procurements and identifying contracting needs.
- Identifies and implements well operation performance improvement opportunities.
- Assures adequate resources are in place to support drilling unit
- Assures Technical Limits documentation is performed at the rig site and addresses capture of unscheduled events and Lost Opportunity Time.
- Actively supports the knowledge and technology management coordinator in the tracking of performance and operational improvements via the knowledge management & technical limits processes.
- Ensures that operations are as safe, reliable and efficient as possible by ensuring all past learning are implemented to support continuous improvement of drilling and completion operations.
- Reviews on-going operations daily and advises Deepwater Drilling Manager and other departments, as required, of pending risks associated with ever changing job scopes.
- Coordinate operational activities with other work groups including logistics and Houston based asset team.
- Stays abreast of new technology and equipment
- Encourages operations team to investigate new technology
- Implements the use of innovative proven equipment.
Required Qualifications: B.Sc in Engineering
Required Skills:
- Experience with Deep Water Sub sea completions & with supervising personnel.
- Floating drilling experience

Minimum of 20 years Drilling & Completions Technical and Operations experience.
