Arik Airline begins Accra-Lagos-Accra Operation

The Nigerian owned airline, Arik Airlines, recently began to expand its operations to Ghana, as part of its goals of extending its flights to other West African countries.
The first inauguration of the flight to other West African countries was when the airline landed on the ground of the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana at 7.10pm the Ghanaian time and 8.10pm Nigerian time recently.
On board of the Arik Air’s new Boeing 737-700NG, were some soccer officials of Cameroonian who were attending the on-going Ghana 2008 tournament. Also, Michael McTighe, Managing Director and Suraj Sundaram, General Manager, Marketing and Sales, both of Arik Airlines were on board.
Michael McTighe said the flight intends to extend its operations to other West African countries than any other airline.
Moreover, Paul Kontoh, Deputy Director, Aerodrome Safety and Standards of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) who had inspected the airline’s facilities in Lagos prior to its inauguration, received the airline with hopes that its Accra-Lagos-Accra flights would be competitive and customer satisfactory.
