Bank PHB Sweeps CSR Awards in Nigeria

Bank PHB over the weekend won two awards at the Social Enterprise Report and Awards night in Lagos. Bank PHB emerged as Best Company in Primary Education and the “Most voted company” as having the best Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) in the country.
The award in Primary Education is in recognition of Bank PHB’s pioneering initiative in addressing the infrastructural and other challenges that most public schools experience in the country.
Tagged the Bank PHB National Scholars Scheme, the banks undertakes the award of scholarships to indigent students of public schools and the building of standard and well equipped libraries in such schools. So far, a total of 13 libraries have been built and launches across 9 states of the country, 5 more have been renovated in Lagos while 4 are at various levels of completion.
Bank PHB secured 9 thousand votes against Coca-Cola’s 6 thousand to emerge the “most voted company” in embarking on Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Bank PHB’s Head of Corporate Promotion Mr. Nduneche Ezurike expressed delight that Bank PHB’s initiatives in CSR initiatives are impacting positively on the targeted beneficiaries. According to him, “the fact that a majority of Nigerians that participated in the selection, voted for Bank PHB is ample indication of popular endorsement of Bank PHB’s CSR initiatives.
Last year Bank PHB was voted as the Best Bank in CSR while Francis Atuche, Group MD/CEO of the bank was recognized for his contribution to the society. The SERA award, which is organized by TruContact Communications in collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). The annual event seeks to draw attention to what Nigerian companies are doing in contributing to the quality of life of the society in which they do business.
