Chi Limited sponsors Yoruba World Film Festival

June 30, 2008 by ella

chi logoChi Limited, manufacturer of over 20 food and beverage brands, has pledged the company’s support for the arts and entertainment sector in Nigeria.

The pledge was made in Lagos recently during the just concluded maiden edition of the Yoruba World Film Festival (YOWFEST) organised by the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP). The event featured Chi Limited as “official partner” in which capacity the company sponsored refreshment for participants at the international event, as well as a life-time achievement trophy for contributions to the arts, which was won by Ambassador Segun Olusola, founder of the African Refugees Foundation (AREF).

Making the pledge on behalf of the company was its General Manager, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong, who disclosed that the company was motivated to support YOWFEST because of its love for the originality and vibrancy of Nigerian creative arts.

According to him: “It was this love that inspired the organisation to commence a relationship with the Nigerian film industry popularly called Nollywood. The relationship found the company blazing the trail in patronising Nollywood stars by adopting them as Brand Ambassadors for its product stable in the course of conceiving and producing no less than 16 television commercials in just about five years using 35 mm film. The prominent Nollywood figures who have featured as Brand Ambassadors for Chi products include Prince Jide Kosoko, Julius Agu, Nkiru Sylvanus the jokester, Ali Baba and so on.”

Ekpeyong stated further that just as Chi Limited has transformed in a little over two decades into a multi-national company with commercial offices in Germany, Ireland, India, Ghana, Benin Republic and so on, Nollywood retains great potential to feature even more prominently on the international market. “Chi Limited will collaborate with the industry’s standard bearers and other stakeholders to realise this destiny,” he assured.
