FIRSTBANK Rewards Excellence at Annual CEO Award

Over 8,000 staffers of First Bank of Nigeria Plc will compete for various laurels at the 2007 edition of FirstBank’s CEO Annual Merit Award (CAMA) scheduled for EXPO Hall, Ocean View Restaurant, Victoria Island,
Lagos on Friday, December 7, 2007.
The annual ceremony, which made its debut in 2005, is part of the Bank’s performance management strategy aimed at rewarding and encouraging members of staff who recorded outstanding performance during the previous financial year.Expectedly, this year’s edition, like the previous ones, will witness leading personae in the public and private sectors as well as the diplomatic corps. The first African winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Mr. Dele Olojede, who is the Guest Speaker, will speak on “Leadership in Service”. The choice of the topic is in sync with FirstBank’s determination to provide innovative and seamless service to its stakeholders in an exemplary manner. The Special Guest of Honour is the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Aderemi Babalola, himself a former executive director of the Bank, and a testimony to the quality of the Bank’s human capital. Other former directors of the Bank and top notch customers are also expected to grace the occasion.
Nominees for the awards would be drawn from Strategic Business Groups of the Bank across the country. FirstBank boasts of a robust human capital and has received various awards in recognition of its outstanding commitment to human resources development in the banking and finance sector. The Bank has, for many years, sustained an enviable reputation as the highest employer of fresh graduates in
Nigeria, thus contributing significantly to the employment generation drive of governments at all levels.
This year alone, FirstBank has recruited 980 executive trainees, besides hundreds of experienced hands
