6 lucky Glo subscribers, who won 3 brand new cars, 2 motorcycles and a bicycle at the Win & Rule Easier and Bigger promo draw held during the Rock ‘n’ Rule concert in Port Harcourt (PH), were recently presented with their prizes in their homes and offices in the Garden City.
At a ceremony held at the Delta Park of University of Port Harcourt where a brand new Nissan Sunny was presented to Gift Azubuike, a year two Biochemistry student of the university on Thursday, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the University, Prof. B.J.O. Efiuvwevwere, said: “This has come as a special surprise to this community. We often wonder about the authenticity of these promos. We are very proud to identify with this transparency by Globacom and its determination to empower all Nigerians”.
Efiuvwevwere said that he was delighted the car was won by one of the university’s students, adding that the development would encourage more students to join the Glo network, which he declared as the best.
Buoyed by the presence of his fellow students as well as the Registrar of the university, Mr. M.O Onyige, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mathew Wegwu and other dignitaries, Azubuike said it was a dream come true. “I’m proud to be associated with Glo. My personal fortune has changed. Thanks to Globacom. I’m now a superstar,” he said, positing that the car presented to him by Glo was the first ever car in his family.
A tailor, Zaphananiel Philibus who lives in old GRA, Port Harcourt and who won a brand new Kia Rio said: “Glo has done it for me. From now, I’m an executive tailor who will not hide inside a garage again”, referring to the garage in his premises he improvised as his workshop.
Zaphananiel’s neighbour, Keneth Nwakpedo, said: “I thought it was fake but now, my eyes have seen and confirmed. Glo has shown with this vehicle inside this compound that it is number one.” He enjoined all those who are not yet on the Glo network to join and stand the chance of also becoming winners.
At every stop, from the presentation of a brand new Peugeot 307 to Bade Amao, a marketer with NNPC at his Stadium Road office; to the presentation of a Hero Ranger Max bicycle to Grace Agbonwa Nwokeforo, an Immigration staff at her children’s school, Beverly Heights School International, Iwofe Road, the presentation of a motorcycle to Mrs. Oguagha Nwamaka, a student of Enugu State University residing at Oyigbo area of Port Harcourt and the presentation of another motorcycle to Mr. Shadrack Aigbogun, a staff of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, the comments of the winners and their relatives were similar.
It was an admixture of disbelief with deep happiness and celebration. Okagbue Okabie Ije Nweneda who represented the Beverly Heights Head Teacher, said: “Many people do not believe in promos and bonanzas. But this is a testimony presented in a special way by Glo to us in this community.”
Agbonwa, who won the bicycle and had requested for it to be presented to her nine-year old daughter in her school, said: “I thank Glo for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I always look at promos as scheme to defraud people. When I attended the Glo show last Saturday, I never knew I could win any prize.”
Award winning Glo ambassador, Sammy Okposo, said that since Globacom launched over five years ago, it has empowered many Nigerians and transformed their lives. While congratulating the winners at the various locations, he said that he was proud to be a Globacom ambassador, adding that like the winners, his own fortunes had also been transformed since Glo made him an ambassador.
Popular comedian, Basorge Tariah, who compeered the event said: “Glo is the biggest and best network in Africa. Addressing the winners at the various locations, Tariah said: “On behalf of the network, I congratulate you and your family. You are special. Please tell your relatives and friends. The promo is still on. They too can still be winners.”
The Win & Rule promo was recently made easier by Globacom when it reduced the lowest qualification threshold for subscribers from recharging with N500 in 2 weeks to N200 in 4 weeks. Glo also made the promo bigger by adding 1000 motorcycles, 1000 generators and 1000 bicycles to the original 500 car promo. A special draw for the promo will be held in all the remaining 11 Rock ‘n’ Rule locations across the country. The Uyo edition was held last Sunday.
