Insurers get ICT training at Workshop

An insurance technology workshop and mini exhibition (InTech) targeted at the underwriting companies to advocate the deployment of tools of Information Communication Technology (ICT) is scheduled to commence on September 4, this year at Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi.
The workshop organised by Private Media Mart in conjunction with the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) is expected to showcase the technologies suitable for the insurance sector in the emergence insurance environment.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos on the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Ejiofor Agada, said that the idea of InTech workshop is to continuously showcase the technologies suitable for the insurance sector, as well as explain the inherent advantages and features of these solutions and services to their target market.
According to him, “It is meant to be the only credible bridging channel between players in the insurance sector and technology service providers to review and learn all about insurance ICT solutions in today’s technology space. Though the sector is beginning to adopt it in its operations, the rate of deployment is slow and the sector is expected to look forward to better packages that are more robust.
He said that the presentation of these technologies would ultimately be aimed at securing the endorsement of such relevant bodies like the NIA, NAICOM and WAICA (West African Insurance Companies Association).
These ICT solutions and their applications for the 21st century insurance company will form the focus of the activities of that day, while issues to be discussed are; regulation issues and solutions in e-Insurance, enterprise solution issues in an insurance environment, security and fraud detection solutions, communication solutions for the insurance sector.
