Intel Donates Computers to Schools Under SchoolNigeria Project

Owing to the need to boost the teaching and learning of English Language and Mathematics as well as encourage interactive learning in the absence of teachers, Intel Corporation, recently donated 100 PC computers to 20 Junior secondary schools each in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Mr. Ekundare Olubunmi, Corporate Affairs Manager, West Africa Region, Intel, explained that the computers were provided under the SchoolNigeria project which was inaugurated recently in Abuja, with the aim of making digital education content available to Nigerian schools.

Olubunmi continued that Intel has a target of giving out computers to 565 schools and train 150000 teachers nationwide before the end of the year 2012 while the FCT Administration has been urged to take a look at any challenge that could hinder the schools from enjoying the benefits.

The organization according to him, has spent about N50 million in training 24000 teachers in Nigeria under the same project.

Some beneficiaries of the project are; Junior Secondary School, Dei Dei; Junior Secondary School, Pegi; Junior Secondary School, Kurudu; Junior Secondary School, Jabi; Junior Secondary School, Passali; Junior Secondary School, Kwali; Junior Secondary School, Gwarimpa; Junior Secondary School, Naharaji and Junior Secondary School, Phase 3, Gwagwalada.
