This socially worthy program which kicked off last month and earmarked for 10 hospitals across the country, represents one activity that the No. 1 noodles brand; Indomie Instant Noodles secures to carry out its social
responsibility towards a healthier society. The noodles manufacturer donated equipments worth over millions of naira to the pediatric unit of the Maternity Hospital.
Some of the equipments donated include high-tech incubators, baby weighing scales, digital thermometers and sphygmomanometers, equipment for measuring arterial blood pressure.
Speaking while presenting the equipments, Tope Ashiwaju, PR Manager, DUFIL Prima Foods Plc explained that the Indomie Hospital Project is not restricted to pediatrics only, however Ade-Oyo Maternity Hospital is chosen as a beneficiary because of the hospital’s unmatched reputation for caring for mothers and newborns in Ibadan city and wide.
He emphasized that DUFIL Prima Foods will remain consistent in its support to governments’ efforts in the general hospitals where a large percentage of the population especially those in the lower class go to for medical attention.
“We want to bring Indomie brand closer in terms of health care to those who cannot genuinely afford medical bills and that’s the reason why the initiative is centered on general hospitals rather than private hospitals.” He said.
While receiving the equipments, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Osamor represented by Dr. Adeyanju Olusoji, Consultant Gynecologist thanked the management of DUFIL Prima Foods for the people-centered initiative and for touching the society where it really mattered. Dr. Adeyanju hailed the company for its passion for corporate social responsibility and steadfastness displayed in the face of the global economic meltdown.
“While others are winding up in the heat of the economic meltdown, Dufil Prima Foods have shown to be good example of a true corporate citizen undeterred. On behalf of the management, I want to assure you that by the grace of God, we would make the best use of the donations.” He said.
In the same vein the Consultant Pediatrician, Dr. Onadeko Olusola stated that Dufil Prima Foods has demonstrated by its action that it is truly a caring company, adding that the items especially the incubator will go a long way in assisting in providing healthcare services to the newborns
in the hospital.
She stressed that “the State Government in recent time have been very magnanimous to the hospital in unsurpassed ways such as the total renovation of the hospital and the acquisition of new medical equipment, this social cause executed by Dufil Prima Food is highly welcomed as it will go a long way to curtail the influx of cases associated with
the neonatal unit.”
The donation of medical equipment to Adeoyo Maternity General Hospital is coming after that of Massey Street Children Hospital, Lagos the first beneficiary of the 2009 Indomie Hospital Project.
