Nigeria: Skye Bank Visa Card Gets Anti-Hacking Security

Skye Bank Plc has moved a step further in the deployment of e channels for transactional and settlement purposes as its range of Visa cards have attained the Verified by Visa (VbV) status which makes transactions done with the cards safe and impenetrable.
A statement signed by the bank’s Head of Corporate Affairs department, Kayode Akinyemi, said with the Verified by Visa status, Skye Bank’s Visa cards are now conferred with the highest security level which makes on-line shopping safer and simpler.
The statement quotes the bank’s Head of International Cards, Adedamola Bolodeoku, as saying that “Verified by Visa tells on-line retailers and banks that you are genuine cardholder when you shop on-line”.
He described the Verified by Visa as a security system being introduced and adopted by internet stores around the world which allows the cardholder to use a personal password to confirm his identity and protect his Visa card when he uses it on the internet.
On how it works, the statement said once the Skye Visa card is activated, Verified by Visa protects the cardholder at every participating on-line store, while the issuing bank will verify the cardholder’s password at the point of completing purchases.
The bank explained that because the bank’s Visa cards have a personal identification number, no one else will be able to use it .
‘After registration is complete, each time you make an on-line purchase at a participating merchant’s website, a Verified by Visa authentication page will appear to verify the identity of the cardholder”, the statement said.
The Skye Bank Visa card is an international card issued on Visa International’s platform which is accepted at more than 29 million outlets in over 170 countries and over one million automated teller machines worldwide.
The variants of the Skye Visa card include the Classic card which is a dual currency linked to a naira account and domiciliary account; prepaid card and Gold card, all denominated in the United States’ dollar.
With the Skye Bank Visa card which is verified by Visa, cardholders can receive money through card to card and account to card transfer as well as being able to withdraw from ATMs.
