Omatek has unveiled its e-learning scheme for the education sector, which is an appendage of the Omatek e-Xpress initiative.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos recently, Omatek Group Managing Director, Mrs. Florence Seriki, said the e-learning scheme is a holistic solution to consolidate Omatek’s positioning in the education sector.
According to her, the Omatek e-learning scheme is a one-stop shop which provides a platform to ensure that Information and Communication Technology tools are deployed to schools/classrooms under a carefully structured learning environment, equipped with our 8in and 10in Computers; internet connectivity to create virtual connectivity between students and teachers/lecturers. It also involves the deployment of a robust content /curriculum development.
The internet connectivity via the V-SAT technology will provide hot spots around the schools, thus creating an enabling environment for teachers and students to deploy their Wi-Fi for connectivity
The Omatek e-learning scheme has been divided into modules for ease of deployment and these modules will help to streamline the processes where the practice of teaching and learning can enjoy intervention by the introduction of IT tools required to create an e-learning environment across schools. The main thrust of the scheme is to create an e-learning experience that will serve to further deepen teaching and learning engagements while reducing concurrent costs of managing materials and resources allocated to schools
The hardware components of the scheme will be the Omatek 8″and 10″ smartbooks specially designed with 60gb hard disk space & 512mb and 1gb RAM respectively for students and teachers in the educational sector and equipped with robust Wi-Fi coverage of each school.
The smartbooks are equally portable and come in various attractive colors. An alternative computer is the 15.4″ laptop for teachers/lecturers.
Also available under the scheme is the Omatek all-in-one compact PC which comes with a 15-17″ flat screen and has the CPU and monitor built into one. It is ideal for schools, computer/ICT laboratories.
The advantages of the Omatek Compact computer apart from space conservation is that it has an option of being a touch screen irrespective of the regular flat screen model. The Omatek Compact comes with 80GB HDD, Combined PC and CPU, Wireless Mouse, WiFi ready and its equipped with DVD writer and it is for multipurpose use.
Omatek is equipped for the e-learning scheme with funding arrangement from partner banks structured under the e-Xpress initiative, which has not been fully utilized based on the various options of facilities available to be explored.
The Omatek factories in Nigeria and Ghana will guarantee quality production, empower the youths, create employment opportunities; encourage technology transfer/Research & Development.
Omatek is committed to bridging the digital divide in Nigeria and this initiative is a demonstration of its strong support for the future of the country’s educational sector.
