Odu’a Investment Company awards N4.1 million worth of Scholarship

bannerIn other to academically empower indigenes of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States the management of odu’a Investment Company Limited has begun the implementation of a multi million naira scholarship scheme.

The implementation began in Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State where 41 students from diverse disciplines were awarded a cheque of N100,000 each totaling N4.1 million. They will be recieving this sum yearly until they graduate.

Explaining the rationale for the gesture, the Group Managing Director, Mr. Adebayo Jimoh said that the company took the initiative as its contribution to the manpower development in the Odu’a states.

He noted that the company believed in the educational empowerment of a child whom he said must receive necessary assistance and be well equipped to take up future challenges.

According to him, ”through the gesture, leaders of tomorrow are built and we shall be confident of having people to take over the mantle of leadership even in the patrimony of our founding father called Odu’a.”

He said that forty students each from the five owner states of Odu’a schooling in different universities who scaled a competitive test and are of good conduct and brilliant were picked following their impressive performance.

As part of the criteria for qualification, the GMD said that beneficiaries must have a minimum academic standard of second class upper grade and must not be involved in anti-social activities throughout the duration of their academic pursuit.

The Yoruba Centre of Excellence headed by the renown Emeritus Professor Ade Ajayi representing Ekiti State, Professor Akinwumi Ishola, (Oyo), Chief Yemi Elebuibon (Osun), Ambassador Segun Olusola (Ogun) and Arogbofa from Ondo State were responsible for the selection of candidates.
