Lagos State Commends Indomie on Educational Development

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Sarah Adebisi Sosan who doubles as the Honourable Commissioner for Education has commended Dufil Prima Foods, manufacturers of Indomie Instant Noodles for its bold step in identifying with the educational sector in the state.
Sosan gave this commendation during the one day teachers’ seminar organized by the noodles giant tagged “The Challenges of Providing Quality Basic Education for Nigerian children: The Way Forward” which took place at the Multi-purpose Hall C, University of Lagos, Akoka on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
In her address, Sosan who was represented by Mrs. Bolanle Ajani, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, District 5, Lagos State Ministry of Education, expressed appreciation to the management of Dufil Prima Foods for their sponsorship of various educational events at local and state level, a feat for which the state is proud of.
She said, earlier in the year, Indomie noodles co-sponsored the Jam Feast, an HIV/AIDS awareness and sensitization programme for secondary school students in Lagos state and it was recently named as one of the corporate organizations that has shown willingness to adopt a school in Lagos State under the “Support Our Schools” initiative launched at Alausa on Tuesday.
She described the Indomie Fan Club Teachers seminar, as another novelty, which the state is proud to be associated with as it is in line with the targets of the Lagos State Government policy of training and retraining of teachers.
“Indeed, we at the Education Ministry are proud to be associated with Indomie and its fan club. We all know this is another novelty- The Indomie Fan Club Teachers Seminar is the first of its kind. It is indeed heart warming that our teachers are being given pride of place in consideration and acknowledgements, this is in line with the targets of Lagos State Government policy of training and re-training our teachers in order to be the best at their chosen field.”
Sosan urged the teachers to take advantage of the seminar organized free for them by reflecting on the discourse and internalize the information required to improve their competence and consequently better the lives of the children as she emphasized that “these children are a trust in your hands as they probably spend more time with you than with their parents, therefore what you teach must be sound as it may mar or make their future.”
According to Faith Joshua, Coordinator, Indomie Fan Club the maiden edition of the Indomie Fan Club Teachers Seminar is a way of empowering the teachers in the provision of quality basic education to the pupils.
“The children are our hero and that’s why we feel they deserve quality education in-order to achieve their dreams in life. This quality education can only be provided by quality teachers. That’s why we’ve invited the teachers to this seminar so as to understand the challenges of providing quality basic education for the Nigerian Child. With this preparation we are sure of producing indomitable heroes from all our Indomie Fan Club Schools”
Joshua stated that Indomie Fan Club and its parent company- DUFIL Prima Foods are committed to creatively devise new ways to better the lives of children.
At the close of the event, certificates of participation were presented to about 3000 teachers present at the seminar which had Professor Duro Ajeyalemi, Immediate Past Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos and Mr. Femi Ashiwaju, a motivational speaker and CEO, Brandel as Guest Speakers.
