The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took a dramatic turn, Friday, as the party edged out loyalists of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in what is seen as President Jonathan’s attempt to solidify his influence in the party. An a meeting of the National Working Committee of the party chaired by its National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, and reported by The Punch newspaper, the National Auditor of the PDP, Chief Bode Mustapha, and the National Vice-Chairman (South-West) Mr. Segun Oni, both believed to be Obasanjo’s loyalists, were sacked from their positions. In Ogun State, the national leadership also sacked the Obasanjo-backed executive led by Senator Dipo Odujinrin. A statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the party took the decision on the affected officers following series of suits on the congress that brought them to office.
