Recently, there has been a huge disagreement amongst members of the new All Progressive Congress Party, APC, about the party logo. The temporary logo includes a broom, a corn, and a pen, all symbols of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Congress for Progress Congress, CPC, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. The APC is yet to be registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, some members of the APGA refused to have their logo, the cock be part of the new party’s logo. After a huge argument, representatives of the APGA stormed out of the meeting, but only returned after a brief persuasion by other party members. In order to calm the situation, the party leaders then decided to have a neutral logo not consisting of either of the member party’s logo.

According to a source in the APC party, “What we have resolved to do is to have a logo that is neutral, one that will prove to all that as a political party, we are prepared to offer Nigerians a fresh start.“We considered the implications of having the symbols of the three leading parties in the merger but soon realized that others who are coming to join us may feel left out.”
