Birnin Gwari of Kaduna State Attacked by Gunmen, Banks and Police Station Blown-up

According to Sahara Reporters, a town known as Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State was attacked by unknown gunmen in the wee hours of today. Students living in the area reported that the police station attached to the town was taken over and burnt down after a serious gun battle which lasted for two hours ensued between both parties.

An anonymous source who claimed to have observed the whole attack, said it was difficult to see the plate number of the vehicle the gunmen used since it was dark, he also said banks and other buildings were bombed by the attackers who took over the entire neighbourhood while the invasion lasted. In a phone call statement he made to the authorities, he said “We are trapped, and under fear, we need  military support to, if not there is no certainty on our lives. As I speak, they are still firing”.

Casualties include the death of some policemen as well as some of the bandits. As at the time of this report, all phone calls made to the spokespersons of the police and army for comment received no response.
