The Federal Government through the House of Representative yesterday accused 60 of its income generating agencies of making and refusing to submit over N9,100,000,000 between 2009 and 2012. According to the report, some of the agencies listed include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Port Authority (NPA),,(PHCN), Bank of Industry, etc.
The report also stated that the money was either squandered by the agencies on some unreported operations, or they failed to submit it to the Federal Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.
In a briefing to the house by Mr. Abdulmumini Jibrin, the Chairman of the committee, he stated that the findings was a shock to the members of the house, he also added, “The agencies are simply bleeding this country dry. Not until we take drastic steps to stop them, huge funds that we would have used to execute capital projects will continue to go down the drain.”
