No fewer than 12 polio vaccinators were shot dead by unknown gunmen, Friday, in coordinated attacks in the ancient city of Kano. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the female polio vaccinators were shot dead in two separate killings by gunmen who rode on a tricycle and targeted their clinics outside Kano city as they prepared to start work. A health official confirmed to the BBC that those killed in the second attack in Hotoro were female health workers although there were earlier reports that people waiting at the clinic may have been among those shot.
