No fewer than 10 people were claimed to have lost their lives in a community conflict on Monday in Kwara State. The conflict was between Offa community and Erin-Ile community of Offa and Oyun local government areas. Properties worth millions were equally destroyed in the clash.
According to a source who preferred to remain anonymous, the fight started when a local of Erin-Ile rammed his vehicle into another vehicle belonging to a local of Offa, on his return from purchasing tiles. They both argued heavily, laying blames on each other which eventually worsened and a physical fight ensued between the two. This brought the attention of other locals from both communities and the result was a serious fracas.
When the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police, Olufemi Fabode was contacted, he claimed no life was lost but however admitted that there was a fight between both communities and armed riot police men were deployed to quell the situation.
