President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar , in a statement on Wednesday urged Nigerian Leaders to follow the example of late Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, who while alive was able to take advantage of his countries resources for the sole benefit of his people. He implored Nigerian leaders not to concentrate on western interests and amassing personal gains and big businesses at the detriment of the people, but should focus on defending the interest of the people.
Omar said “That he will be missed by his people and other working families is an obvious statement. This remarkable working class leader, is a hero of the people, and needs emulation by all Third World leaders, particularly in Nigeria – leaders that will stand up for the interest of the poor and not big business and western interests.”
