The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi recently accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo for being the brain behind the continuous marginalisation of the Yoruba People. He made the comment to former senate leader, Senator Teslim Folarin who paid a sympathy visit to the Oba following the fire incident  which gutted some part of the palace.

The Oyo Monarch expressed painfully that the Obasanjo’s eight year rule was not in any way favourable to the Yoruba people. He said that instead of the former President to ensure a progession policy beneficial to the Yorubas on a long term, he was just giving lip service on those issues with nothing done at the end of the day.

He however called on prominent Yoruba politicians to secure the Yoruba nation’s cultural heritage, adding that parents no longer taught their children their local dialect and culture.

Senator Folarin on the other hand apologised for not visiting the Oba earlier, attributing his late visit to ill health.
