A 27-year-old housemaid, Mariam Acheme, has been arrested by the police in Lagos State, for allegedly inviting her boyfriend to rob her boss, and staged her own kidnap. The Punch newspaper reports that Acheme on November 26, 2012, invited her boyfriend, Dansu Akoran, and another suspect now at large, to her boss’ house when the madam had gone out. The trio then proceeded to ransacked the whole house and made away with some valuables. The housemaid was said to have padlocked the gate and fled with the suspects after the incident. The victim on getting back home discovered the crime and immediately contacted the Bode Thomas Police Division. Nemesis however caught up with the suspects when after few days, someone contacted the victim, telling her that her housemaid had been kidnapped and demanded for N5 million ransom. The madam then informed the police of the development. The police were said to have negotiated with the kidnappers to accept N1 million, after which they sent a bank account number which the money should be paid into. The policemen it was reported, traced the owner of the account, Prosper Tatou, to Agbara area of Ogun State and accosted him. Tatou was said to have led the detectives to the hideout of the other suspects where it was discovered that the housemaid had connived with the ‘kidnappers’.
