The House of Representatives is set to ban the importation and sale of caffeinted drinks commonly known as ‘energy’ drinks, even as it directs the Joint Committee on Health/Commerce to investigate the importation and distribution of the drinks. According to The Punch newspaper, the motion which was  sponsored by a member, Mr. Yacoob Bush-Alebiosu, said there is need to ban the drinks because of the of health risks caused by the consumption of the energy drinks.
