Kila’s, Omisore’s pictures appear on Senate retreat’s banner – The Nation
November 11, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
In spite of their sack by the Appeal Court from the Senate, the pictures of Chiefs Femi Kila and Iyiola Omisore still donned the banner of the ongoing 2009 Senate Retreat in Enugu, the Enugu State capital.
Kila was removed by the court as Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, and replaced with Senator Bode Ola.
Omisore was representing Osun East Senatorial District before he was sacked on October 29, with the Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, ordering a rerun within 60 days.
As if ignorant of the court verdict which sacked the two former senators, the Senate listed Kila and Omisore as representing Ekiti Central and Osun East in the imposing banner welcoming guests to the retreat.
The banner, which was placed strategically at the entrance of the Nike Lake Resort, venue of the retreat, was signed by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.
It was done in the nation’s green and white colours.
The banner, which also has the seal of the Senate, is for the seven-day retreat. It ran from Monday through to November 15.
Commenting on the development, Senator Ola said he is the authentic representative of the people of Ekiti Central in the Senate.
