2011: INEC to spend N11bn on allowances – The Nation
November 28, 2009 by tim
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to spend a whopping N11 billion on honoraria (payment of allowances for professional services) and N7.1 billion for the printing of 2011 election ballot papers next year. Under the N4.07 trillion 2010 national budget presented to the National Assembly last week by President Umar Yar’Adua, N47.2 billion is being proposed for INEC’s expenditure.
Of the N7.1 billion earmarked for the printing of ballot papers for the 2011 general election, N78 million will go for ballot papers to be used in next year’s bye-elections, and N2 billion for the 2011 elections’ result forms, while ‘monitoring and security’ will consume N1. 18 billion.
Expectedly, hardnose businessmen are already oiling their contacts with the intention of launching their bid for juicy deals.
