AC carpets Mark, others over Iwu – The Nation

November 17, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

The Action Congress (AC) has said attempts by the Senate President, David Mark, to absolve the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, of blame over the 2007 elections, smacked of insincerity.

The party insisted that the country could never have free and fair elections as long as Iwu remained in charge at INEC.

The AC said in a statement yesterday that it was disappointed at Mark’s attempt to exonerate the INEC boss from the various electoral heists recorded in the 2007 general elections and the reruns that had taken place afterwards.
