Anambra: PDP to boot out anti-Soludo forces – Daily Trust
October 26, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday threatened to sanction any member that takes the party to court without first exhausting the internal mechanisms for seeking redress.
Some aggrieved aspirants from Anambra State had taken the party to court, following the selection of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the party’s governorship candidate by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
On Friday, an Abuja High Court restrained the PDP from perfecting the nomination of Prof. Soludo with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s flag-bearer in the February 6, 2010 gubernatorial election in Anambra State. The case was instituted by one of the aspirants, Valentine Ozigboh.
Justice Danlami Senchi also restrained INEC from recognising Soludo as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra pending the determination of the motion on notice. The case has been adjourned to November 4.
