ANPP, CNPP, Afenifere hail verdict – The Nation
October 28, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) and the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) have hailed the conviction of Chief Bode George and five others.
ANPP described Justice Olubunmi Oyewole’s judgment as a great victory for the country and democracy.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Emma Eneukwu, ANPP said: ” It is a major breakthrough as it will spark off the much needed exposition of atrocities committed by other big fishes yet to be tried. At least, the judiciary has rekindled the hope of a common-man and this goes further to proof that some top government officials are corrupt minded as they misuse the public offices which they occupy, and they are bent on swindling our economy and subjecting our millions of people to abject poverty and torture. Our great party believes that it is only when trusted, credible and honest people take over the mantle of leadership that true dividends of democracy could be well achieved.”
The CNPP, in a statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, described the judgment as a “master stroke”.
