A police constable serving under the Borno State Police Command who robbed a pastor was later apprehended by citizens while attempting to rob another person near a rail bridge along Wulari Primary School in Maiduguri, Daily Trust learnt yesterday. He was caught in the same area where he robbed the pastor last week, using his service pistol.
Borno Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Abdu, who confirmed the arrest, said that after a search, the policeman, Constable Jessah David, was found in possession of a mobile phone handset belonging to another lady that he also robbed on the same spot. He was also found with a mask and a rifle.
CP Audu said David was apprehended by some good Samaritans who heeded to distress call made by one Ahmadu Bello Bako. He said in the process of being robbed, Bako grabbed the rogue policeman, whose face was covered by a black mask, and held him firmly, then shouted for help.
