The family of the late publisher of Newswatch Magazine, Dele Giwa, weekend called on the Federal Government to re-open investigation into the gruesome murder of their son. They also lamented being abandoned by friends and government, despite the contributions of the late Giwa to journalism in the country.
Giwa was killed 23 years ago in his study through a parcel bomb, and his death had gone down as one of the unresolved murder cases in the country.
As a memorial lecture is being held in his honour today, by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State chapter, the younger sister of the deceased, Mrs. Ronke Aboaba, wants the Federal Government to order fresh investigation into the murder in line with the rule of law policy of the present government.
Mrs. Aboaba, who was with the deceased before his death, called on the police to make public their findings into the cause of the murder of his late brother so that the family and the world at large would know the truth.
