EFCC docks former Finbank MD, three others – The Nation
November 20, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
Four directors of Finbank Nigeria Plc were yesterday docked before Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court (FHC), Lagos.
Messrs Okey Nwosu (the bank’s former Managing Director), Dayo Famoroti, Danjuma Ocholi and Agnes Ebubedike were brought to court at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which filed a 90-count charge against them.
The commission’s plan to arraign them was frustrated by a team of defence lawyer who argued that EFCC’s move amounted to an abuse of court process in view of its failure to first withdraw an earlier charge it filed against Nwosu.
In the charge, the commission accused them of engaging in share price manipulation, illegal withdrawal of funds from the bank, illegal conversion of shares and reckless grant of facilities.
