FG needs N420bn to fund Police…. Osayande – Vanguard

The Federal Government currently needs N420 billion to adequately fund the Nigerian Police Force, given the rising level and sophistication of criminal activities in the country.
Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Chief Parry Osayande, made this revelation, while fielding questions from journalists in Owerri, Imo State capital.
The PSC Chairman said, “this level of funding has become absolutely necessary,” adding that the Federal Government cannot carry the huge financial burden alone.
While giving the numerical strength of serving police personnel, which he put at 377,000, Chief Osayande said that these officers and men of the police force ought to be given modern crime fighting equipment to effectively combat the rising level of criminality in the country.
