First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, is unhappy at the moment on account of the rumours being persistently peddled about the state of the health of her husband, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Since he was flown to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Jeddah, on November 26, on account of acute pericarditis – the inflammation of the sac-like covering of the heart, there had been various reports about the president’s health, including the rumour that he had died.
But as at press time yesterday, it was gathered that the First Lady, had as a result, opted to give a daily situation report on the health of the President to close friends and associates to stave off the wild rumours.
Another source said: “To allay fears on the health of the President, the First Lady is daily getting in touch with a select group of friends, associates and government functionaries with an update on the health of the President.
“She is also using the platform to get feedback on the pulse of Nigerians. She feels like talking but she wants the President to get better before opening up.
“What hurts her most is the persistent rumour of the President’s death. She is usually emotionally weakened when she hears such a spin.
“When she spoke with us on Friday, she said the President was okay and better than the speculations,” the source confided.
Meanwhile, there were strong indications yesterday that members of the National Assembly are unhappy over the stalemate surrounding the 2009 Supplementary Appropriation following the ill-health of President Umaru Yar’Adua.
