The branch office of Stanbic IBTC under construction in Damaturu, Yobe State at the weekend collapsed, trapping five construction workers under the rubbles of concrete slabs, bricks and twisted iron rods.
There was no death reported before the injured construction workers were taken to the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital.
When The Guardian visited the scene of the collapsed building on Damaturu-Maiduguri road, a witness said: “We were shocked when the building under construction gave way and collapsed with all the bricks, concrete slabs and twisted metals falling on the ground,” noting that the building materials could have been of low quality or standard.
