Friends, relatives visit Bode George in prison – 2 years jail term too small for ex-PDP chieftain – ANPP – Tribune

The premises of the Maximum Prison, Kirikiri Apapa, Lagos State was on Tuesday turned into a Mecca of sorts as political associates, friends and relatives of Chief Bode George, erstwhile deputy national chairman, (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), went in their hundreds to pay solidarity visit to him and other convicts with whom he was sent to 28-year jail term by a Lagos State high court sitting in Ikeja on Monday.

George, a retired Naval Commodore and former chairman, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) was convicted alongside other board members of NPA by Justice Olubunmi Oyewole over an alleged N1billion contract scam during their tenure in the former President Olusegun Obasanjo civilian administration.

The visitors, among whom were the immediate past Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Adegboyega Dosumu, some PDP chieftains in Lagos and other prominent Nigerians, arrived at the prison as early as 6:30 a.m in exotic cars, some with Federal Government number plates and other private numbers, demanding to have audience with the convicts.
