The peace that was experienced in Edo State during the Christmas and New Year festivities was short lived yesterday as a female member of a new generation church and a staff in the Bursary Department of the University of Benin, Mrs. Sera Longe, was said to be abducted by unknown gunmen.
The woman was said to have been kidnapped on Sunday morning while she was entering the church premises around Ugbowo area of Benin, the state capital.
The abduction was carried out in spite of heavy presence of members of the state’s joint anti-crime outfit, “Operation Thunderstorm” which was recently fortified with additional patrol vehicles fitted with communication gadgets.
The victim’s husband, The Guardian gathered, also works in the university as a lecturer.
