Should an executive bill currently before the Kaduna State lawmakers be passed into law, convicted kidnappers in the state would be sent to prison with hard labour to boot for the rest of their lives.
Governor Namadi Sambo disclosed this at the weekend while receiving the Director, National Institute of Public Information (NIPI), Charles Chikazie, and his team on a courtesy visit to his office.
The Secretary to Kaduna State Government (SSG), Waje Yayok, was abducted recently in the state and reportedly taken to Delta State, where he spent about 10 days in captivity. Sambo disclosed that he was personally lobbying the lawmakers to ensure speedy passage of the bill to outlaw kidnapping in the state.
The governor stressed the importance of information dissemination in the war against kidnapping, adding that his administration was working to expand the services of the state media outfits to cover the entire state and beyond. He urged the NIPI graduates who accompanied Chikazie on the visit to apply their training in the service of the nation.
