Kutigi urges judges to shun corruption – The Nation

November 17, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

From the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Idris Kutigi, yesterday came a warning to judges: “avoid corruption like ‘a plague’ for you are under watch.”

Speaking at the opening of the 2009 All Nigeria Judges Conference in Abuja, Justice Kutigi said the National Judicial Council (NJC) would not hesitate to deal with any errant judicial officer.

Besides, he condemned what he called the harsh bail condition imposed on the accused by courts.

The five-day conference, with the theme: “Law, Justice and Good Governance in a Democracy”, attracted justices, judges and khadis of superior courts of record.

It was organised by the National Judicial Institute (NJI).
