Military ruined Nigeria – Retired military officer – Tribune

November 10, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

A retired military officer, Major-General Rafiu Adesina, has accused the military of being responsible for the level of decadence in government institutions in the country.

The retired general made the accusation at the re-union ceremony of the old students of Oke ’Badan High School, Agugu, Ibadan, Oyo State, at the weekend.

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, he bemoaned the incursion of the military in politics, saying that the interregnum caused the bane of the country.

“The military killed Nigeria. And I have written a book on it — Military in Politics. It is one of my books in which I have been very critical of the military.

People were surprised that a military man could go that far. In fact, the book is out of print now. I have said it that the military killed most of the African countries,” he said.
