PDP says no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2011 – The Guardian

For the umpteenth time, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hinted that there might not be any vacancy in the Presidential Villa in 2011, warning those surreptitiously campaigning for the top job to stop it.
In fact, the North West zone of the PDP had dismissed claims that Kaduna State Governor Namadi Sambo had been pencilled down to succeed President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2011 on account of the latter’s alleged ill-health.
However, speculations are still rife, following reported meetings being held and committees raised, that Yar’Adua may run for re-election.
And the national publicity secretary of the party, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, who gave its position in a chat yesterday said that those embarking on campaigns to replace Yar’Adua should know that the PDP does not operate in such way.
