November 11, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

Niger State government has named Commissioner for Youths and Strategy, Mr. Timothy Jiya, as leader of delegation to this year’s Christian pilgrimage to Israel.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Munya Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. A. Garba, has also been appointed deputy leader of the state’s delegation for the year’s Christian pilgrimage.

A statement from the Information Officer to Secretary to Niger State Government, Alhaji Lawal Tanko, said the delegation included two people representing the media in the state.

Others are seven medical officials, one representative of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as well as four part-time members of the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Commission.

Tanko said the delegation was made up of people of proven integrity, who would ensure the pilgrimage was a success in both planning and completion of the exercise.

No fewer than 120 Christians including self-sponsored and those sponsored by corporate organisations would perform the 2009 pilgrimage next month.
