Police arrest suspects in Soludo’s dad’s kidnap – The Nation
November 6, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo, the 78-year old father of former Central Bank Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has been released by his abductors. Pa Soludo was let off at about 10.30pm on Wednesday, but the family has barred him from relieving his ordeal.
One of Pa Soludo’s sons, Pastor Ogochukwu Soludo, told reporters yesterday that the allegation that the family hid the old man and declared that he was kidnapped was false.
The police said yesterday that some suspects had been arrested over the kidnap, which heightened the tension in the state that Soludo plans to rule. He is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in next year’s election.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Oshodi Glover, who visited the Soludo family yesterday in company of Chris Ezike, an Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Inspector General of Police Ogbonna Onovo’s monitoring team, said he was not aware that any ransom was paid.
An unconfirmed report said about N100million was paid to the kidnappers.
