Police kill one, arrest 27 students in ESUT riot – Vanguard

The crisis in Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), yesterday took a new twist, as a first year Micro Biology student, Mr. Victor Mgbejiofor, was allegedly shot dead by the police during the students’ demonstration in Enugu.
The student was said to hail from Achi in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Another student was also said to have sustained gunshot wounds in the clash between the security operatives and the students, but the State Police Command and Enugu State Government insisted, yesterday that no student was killed in the incident.
However, the police confirmed that 27 students of the university, including a female had been arrested for allegedly engaging in criminal activities during the demonstration.
