Police search homes for Soludo’s father – The Nation
November 4, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi
There was still no trace yesterday of Pa Simeon Soludo, one week after his kidnap.
But the police seem to have got more desperate in their bid to seize the kidnappers of the father of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Chukwuma Soludo. They have embarked on a house-to-house search for the abductors and their victim, police chief Ogbonna Onovo told reporters yesterday.
He was speaking at the 11th meeting of the West Africa Police Chiefs’ Committee (WAPCCO) in Abuja.
The kidnap of Pa Soludo, 78, from his home at Isuanioma in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State last week has sparked a row between Soludo, who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 6, next year governorship election in Anambra State, and a chieftain of the PDP, Chief Chris Uba.
Uba is accused of masterminding the kidnap for political reasons, but the self-styled godfather of Anambra politics says Soludo knows his father’s whereabouts.
Uba and 23 other former aspirants for the gubernatorial ticket have been quizzed by the police in Awka in connection with the incident.
