Salary: NLC/TUC gives Ekiti 14-day ultimatum – Tribune

October 26, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

The face-off between the Ekiti State government and workers over a two-month unpaid salaries took a new dimension, as the state chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have issued a 14-day ultimatum to the government to pay up or face an industrial action with effect from Friday, October 23.

The workers’ bodies, in a communiqué issued at their joint state executive council meeting held on Thursday, at the Labour House, Ado–Ekiti, lamented the late payment of salaries to workers in the state by the government, saying it had become a recurring decimal.

The unions said if the government should fail to pay the outstanding salaries for the month of September and October, they would embark on a two-day warning strike at the expiration of the ultimatum.
