Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka is worried over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled government of Ogun State, saying it is “government of billboards” rather than “government by performance”.
Soyinka, who deplored the present preoccupation that tends to enthrone the culture of governance by billboards in the state, urged the Governor Gbenga Daniel administration to run a government of “inclusion, openness and example” to enhance harmony among the people.
He observed that the practice of sycophancy in the Gateway State is not only worrisome but also wondered when the phenomenon would end.
“To what end is the present inundation in Ogun State? Is government no longer supposed to be by performance and example? Or have we settled for the culture of government by bill-boards?
