Strenghten anti-corruption war, YCE urges Yar’adua – Daily Trust

October 28, 2009 by Bunmi Awolusi

The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has urged President Umaru Musa Yar’adua to strengthen the nation’s anti-corruption war and ensure that indicted persons are prosecuted promptly.

The council’s Secretary General, Professor Bayo Olateju made the call in Abuja yesterday while addressing newsmen after the group emerged from a meeting with the president.

Professor Olateju said the war on corruption must be won so that the country could have good governance.

Addressing the group earlier, President Yar’adua said his administration would continue to support the independence of the nation’s anti-corruption agencies, “because that is the most enduring way to drastically reduce the menace of corruption in the country.”
