Ngige made this known weekend when he visited the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Awka, to inspect electoral materials for Saturday governorship election.

Action Congress governorship candidate in the 2007 elections in Ogun State, Otunba Dipo Dina, was late on Monday evening shot dead by yet unknown gunmen near Sango Ota.
Dina, according to security sources, was attacked while returning from Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to his home in Lagos.

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has threatened to arrest the former chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Tony Anenih if he continues to constitute security risk to the state. The governor made the threat in Fugar, Etsako in Edo State while flagging off a campaign in preparation for the forthcoming Etsako Central House of Assembly re-run election.

The Action Congress (AC) has so far called 82 witnesses to testify before the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal.The tribunal began sitting on July 23 last year, hearing the petition filed by the AC governorship candidate, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, against the victory of Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola in the April 14, 2007 election. The AC also called a foreign fingerprint expert, Mr Paul Jobbins, as a witness.

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji yesterday warned Governor Babatunde Fashola against listening to those he described as ‘noise makers’.
Ikuforiji, who spoke after Fashola presented next year’s budget on the floor of the Assembly, said: “My advice to His Excellency is that you should concentrate on your assignment and not be distracted by the ‘noise makers’. The real measure of your performance will be known after your exit from office. Most of those who claim to love you the most today, we remember were those who nearly fought your predecessor and his loyalists to a standstill when it became clear that your predecessor gave his full support for you to succeed him.
